Rose Memorial Garden
Our Society maintains the Rose Memorial Garden at Bellevue Park in Sault Ste. Marie. The garden has several displays with engraved brass plaques in memory of loved ones who have passed away. For $40 you can order a plaque set (one with the loved one's name and one with the donor's name), and we will mount them on one of the displays. We have a similar "tribute" display honoring retirements, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
The Rose Garden received a renovation this summer with new roses and a refurbish bed, plus trimmed Cedars...plans are to put in a new bench with a 100th anniversary plaque.
The Memorial Garden allows you to put in a name of a deceased loved one onto a plaque at the garden. See Form.

Suzanne Hanna Memorial Community Garden
In 2003, our Society and six partner organizations were successful in receiving funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to establish the Allard Street Community Garden at 105 Allard Street, on land next to the Canadian Red Cross Building. In 2016, the Garden was renamed the Suzanne Hanna Memorial Garden in memory of Suzanna Hanna. More Details Here.

Sault Ste. Marie Canal National Historic Site
Currently more Volunteers are need at the Greenhouse
The Society has a group of members who use a greenhouse at this historic site to start their annual flowers and vegetables each spring. Most of our Plant Sale offerings come from this greenhouse. Also, in return for the use of the greenhouse, this group grows extra flowers to help beautify the canal site. If you'd like more information about the greenhouse initiative, please contact us at ssmhorticulturalsociety@gmail.com
